Actually, I got the idea for the blog title from the librarian at Redwood Day School, where I used to work. She went through the MUSE program in 1994, and she talked about her first attempt at blogging as being like a "burnt pancake." In fact, that's the name of her blog. So when we made blogs in class, that's what jumped to mind -- and it seemed to apply to teaching as well, although I took out the "burnt" part to allow for those really good days.
